Before the Show
After my first successful show at the Wolfgang Gartner event in Boulder, I searched for another event to cover. I came across MartyParty through The Fox Theatre's website and I read the synopsis they had posted. I quickly became interested in covering the event so I contacted his manager and got a press pass for the event. It was interesting because when I asked for the pass, the manager had already heard of my website because I've been promoting another client of hers. I thought that was pretty cool because I received recognition from someone I barely talked to. Even though I lacked experience in photography, I was still excited to cover the event. The day of the event, I walked to the Fox Theatre and receive my press pass. There was no hassle getting in but I must say the venue was small compared to the Boulder Theater. I got there quite early as they were still setting up. I was wasn't sure what kind of music they were going to play because I've only hear a few songs of MartyParty but I was in for a surprise.
The Event

| Project Aspect - Not sure if real hair |
The event started at 8:30 pm and the DJ didn't get on til 9:30. Project Aspect opened the event with some pure Dubstep. Its was not the typical Skrillex Dubstep but more of the Benga, contemporary Dubstep. I'm not a huge fan of the minimal Dubstep but everyone around me were enjoying it like there was no tomorrow. A majority of his set consisted of Dubstep and a few trap songs. I tried roaming around the venue but a good amount of the sections were 21+. So I couldn't walk around as much and had a limited space to take pictures. What was interesting about that night was that it was Halloween Weekend and so many people were dressed up. There was a drunk guy who was dressed as a wizard trying to casts spells with his beer. There was another guy who dressed up with a cage on his head. The whole night he was drinking and taking pictures of himself. I couldn't help think how many drunk people there were and how many underage people attended the event. I thought it was an interesting mix of people cause It felt like a huge age difference. Anyways back to the music, I thought Project Aspect did a pretty good job at Djing. He featured some of his own tracks which I thought was pretty neat.

| MartyParty and Orgies! |
After his set was done, MartyParty came on. His production was absolutely amazing. The visuals were just breathtaking and it always changed every minute. Since it was around Halloween time, the decoration were black and orange and there were two pumpkins which had MartyParty carved in. I thought that was neat but he and the visuals were the main show. Like I said before I wasn't sure what he was going to playing as I didn't listen to his music as much, he played a ridiculously good Trap/Hip-Hop/Dubstep set. I thought the combination of the three were superb. It definitely had a club atmosphere because there were girls grinding on guys, people getting drunk off their asses, and bros being bros. He played some Lil Jon, Snoop Dogg, and of course his own tracks. One of the most memorable moments of the night was when he played some Waka Flacka Flame. Everyone went crazy when he played hard in da paint. I've never seen so many people getting turnt up in one night.

It was so crazy, even I felt drunk. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention but the visuals were absolutely mind tripping. I thought I was in some sort of acid trip because I just kept seeing weird things. It was so weird that some of the visuals had depictions of orgies. Yeah I said it, orgies. I'm not a pervert but that takes some guts to have those types of visuals. He and the production went very well together. The set was one of my favorite Trap sets. It was as good as Flosstradamus' set. MartyParty played an astounding 2 hr and 30 minute set, something that most DJ's do not do as often. After the event was over, I had this craving of more Trap music in DJ sets.
After Thoughts
Overall I thought the event was great. It would have been nice to have the venue a bit bigger but I thought it was a great size for the event. I did capture some great pictures of the artist, production, and drunk people. Project Aspect killed it with the contemporary Dubstep and MartyParty finished it off with some intense visuals and Trap music. MartyParty definitely knows how to through a party, he is a DJ that you should not miss if you like Trap/Hip-Hop/Dubstep.
