Before the Show
Prior to getting the photography gig, I wanted to expand my websites content. I wasn't sure about how I was going to do that. I thought about doing a radio show, or have people start promoting my website but it hit me when I my friend talked about Wolfgang Gartner coming to Boulder. I thought what if I cover the Wolfgang Gartner event. As soon as I thought of that, I ran with the idea. After a few days and a few emails, I received my first press pass.

I was stoked and excited because this is my first event that I'm covering but I had one problem, I needed a camera. I jumped onto the internet and searched for camera, but they were fucking expensive! So I decided to go one step better, Craigslist. I found a great deal (according to my photography friends) which included a Nikon D60, 4 lenses, 3 filters, and other accessories. Once I got my camera, my business cards that I ordered a couple days ago arrived. I was content because I have my camera, business cards, and a press pass to the event but I still had one problem, I didn't have any experience in photography.

The Event
Popeska
On my way to the event, I kept thinking about the fact that I lacked skill in photography. My initial plan was to take as many pictures as possible and hope for the best. Once I got to the venue, I got my ticket and press pass, went inside with out any difficulty and began covering the event. The event was suppose to start at 9:30 pm with Popeska Djing first but he didn't start playing until around 10 pm. I thought the venue was a good size, it reminded me of another venue called the ASU Fox Theater in San Bernardino. I was pretty stoked because this is the first event I am covering and the first event I'm attending while in Colorado.

Pierce Fulton
Popeska impressed me. This young DJ from the south played some of my favorites including his song Karmameter. That song got the crowd jumping. He played a mix set, which you don't hear as much. From Dubstep to Electro House to Moombahton and Disco House, Popeska provided an array of hits that keep people on their feet. After Popeska, Pierce Fulton got on and played some of the best house music I've heard in a long time. One of the songs that stood out in his set was Leon Boiler's Us. That song was so great, I had to record it on my phone because I wasn't sure what the song was called.
Wolfgang Gartner's Production
After Fulton finished his set, Wolfgang Gartner got onto the stage. His set up was pretty insane. He had this 10 foot high visuals which looked like a spaceship. Lasers and lights blaring out into the crowd with lights that spelled out “Make Some Noise” It was a bigger version of Skrillex's mother ship (If you seen Skrillex live, you'll know what I'm talking about). He played a 2 hour set which featured a lot of his old tracks like Redline and Undertaker but also his new stuff like Girl on Girl and Nuke. The last time I saw him play was at Electric Daisy Carnival 2010. It was long over due but he played a fantastic set.

After Thoughts
I thought the event was amazing. I loved the production and the DJ's. They each had a unique set of music and they played the hell out of it. I'm glad that this event was the first event that I covered and attend. The people were amazing, the sound was great. I had a couple of people asking me for some drugs but hey, thats at every event. Overall, I had a great experience as a photographer, reviewer, and a attendee. If Popeska, Piercing Fulton, or Wolfgang Gartner are playing in your area I recommend you to go see them. They will not disappoint you.
