Marshmallow Gun's Top 10 Songs of 2012 - Dance

I find the Dance genre quite confusing. I think I didn't start liking the Dance genre until I heard a lot of Digitalism and Madeon. I remember the track Last Flight by Fabian that took me serval months to find. The genre is pretty hard to define as they take a lot of different genres and put them into one category. So in attempt to define the Top 10 Dance tracks of this year, I included Madeon, Cash Cash, TheFatRat, and Lenno. How I define Dance music is music which is pretty danceable. With that being said, here are the Top 10 Dance tracks of this year!

**Note there are a lot of tracks that I could have/could have not listen to. This is merely my opinion as these are the tracks that stuck out to me. Also I decided not list which is 1 to 10 as I feel like each song has its own strengths and weaknesses.

Madeon - The City [October 8, 2012]

The City is one of my favorite songs of all time! There no exception. I think a lot of people like this track. I had the pleasure to see him play live at Coachella and when this song dropped everyone went crazy. This track is unique because of the fantastic vocals and the Electro House/Indie Dance style that comes with it. Madeon set his own bar and now people are trying to recreate it and set a higher standard.

DCUP - I'm Corrupt (Viceroy Remix) [October 4, 2012]

This is one of the happiest songs I've ever heard. The lyrics say other wise but Viceroy totally made this track a tropical summer vacation. I could imagine playing this song for a really long time. This is Summer, All the Time. The vocals are just a perfect fit for the piano and synth Viceroy created. This is something you have to listen to if your into Indie Dance.

Alex Gopher Ft. Saint-Michel - Hello Inc. (Digitalism Remix) [October 10, 2012]

I've been a fan of Digitalism since their track Pogo and 2 hearts. I've had the privilege to see them live twice in the past 2 years and they've rocked! I haven't heard much music from them but when they released this remix, I was just amazed. It seems like they are still going strong and this remix proved it. This song has a summer presence and the synths are just awesome.

The Knocks & Fred Falke - Geronimo (Lenno Remix) [July 9, 2012]

Oh oh, Geronimoooo! Lenno is back and this time he remixes The Knocks & Fred Falke's Geronimo. This track has a crazy progression. Lenno did a fantastic job with the progression because it starts off with the kick and snares. Then comes the synths and samples. Then finally the vocals comes in and its just a perfect track overall. I love it and I'm sure you'll like it as well.

Cash Cash - Overtime [November 26, 2012]

I barely discovered Cash Cash a couple weeks ago and the first track I listened to, I was impressed. A friend of mine told me about Cash Cash and how they were a band before they started producing. I was surprised because their music is so different from what they produce. This style of music that Cash Cash made is something similar to Madeon but with some Electro House/Glitch Hop. This song is a fantastic gem and I'm glad to have found it. You should give this a listen because it is just catchy as hell.

Nelly Furtado - Parking Lot (Kill Paris Remix) [September 25, 2012]

Kill Paris is an upcoming producer and hes just amazing. His style of production includes Dubstep, Moombahton, Dance, and Electro House. This guy keeps it fresh and has a ton of variety when it comes to making hits. This remix that he did for Nelly Furtado proves that he can make hits. The Electro House style that is in this song is fucking great! Along with that the vocals and how he chopped it up made it even better!

Two Door Cinema Club - Sleep Alone (BeatauCue Remix) [September 13, 2012]

Two Door Cinema Club and BeatauCue are my favorite artists. When I saw that they remixed this track I was more than excited! The vocals in this track was used excellently. I love the Dance style they added to this song. BeatauCue is known for their Dance music, not generally tied to a specific genre. You should keep an eye out for them because they will cause a stir in the music industry 2013.

Alison Valentine - Peanut Butter (Moon Boots Remix) [August 29, 2012]

This synth pop remix is one of the best tracks I've heard. It has this 80's style to it with some really good synths to work with. The piano and vocals work well with each other. Unforunately I don't know too much about Alison Valentine or Moon Boots but they manage to create a wonderful track. If you haven't yet, check out this track because its a nice song.

Gotye - Somebody That I Used To Know (TheFatRat Remix) [February 26, 2012]

Gotye's Somebody That I Used To Know is one of the most played out songs of this year. I remember hearing the original so many times on the radio, I saw him live at Coachella and literally everyone at the event sung this song. While he gained massive amount of fame, the song died out. Although it died out, TheFatRat remix of this track will be the only track I could listen to. This remix is composed like if it was an original. I love the Electro House style that TheFatRat incorporated. Truly a great Dance track.

Viceroy Ft. Ghost Beach - While We're In Love (Eumig & Chinon Remix) [November 13, 2012]

Viceroy is a fantastic artist and as well as Ghost Beach, But Eumig & Chinon did a crazy remix with this track. It has a very present Electro House sound. It also have some Dance and Disco House influences. Overall I like this track because it's easy to fall into the depths of this song. I think the style and synth fits well with the lyrics of the song. Its a roller coaster song which is amazing!

Honorable Mention

Sadies Bens - I'm Gonna Lick It [October 1, 2012]

This track is very funky. It has this House and Dance feel to it. Too bad that it hasn't gotten much attention although it was released on one of my favorite record labels, plasmapool records. Sadies Bens has produced an awesome track. I hope to hear more music from them.

Marshmallow Gun's Top 10 Songs of 2012 - Drumstep

Drumstep is a new genre which combines the greatness of Drum n Bass and Dubstep. I think Drumstep is a great genre because it combines the best of both worlds. When it comes to the genre I think that Figure and Terravita were the leader of the Drumstep genre. But now that Drumstep became more popular, artists like ShockOne, Pegboard Nerds and Bare are taking the torch and evolving the genre. I see a lot of progression in this genre because of the music that was released this year. We've heard a lot of innovated stuff from Pegboard Nerds and Adam F. Also I see the rise of Drumstep that will hit the mainstream spot light with remixes like Alyen's Clarity or Shy Kidx's Rocksteady. Here are the Top 10 Drumstep tracks of 2012.

**Note there are a lot of tracks that I could have/could have not listen to. This is merely my opinion as these are the tracks that stuck out to me. Also I decided not list which is 1 to 10 as I feel like each song has its own strengths and weaknesses.

Zedd Ft. Foxes - Clarity (Aylen Remix) [November 27, 2012]

So Zedd's Clarity made it on our previous top 10 list and hes back again but this time with a different touch. This Drumstep remix was fantastically done by Aylen. Since he made this track, hes gained a lot of recognition. This is by far one of my favorite Clarity remix. The style that he incorporated is quite different because its Drumstep but the vocals stand out a lot more in this remix. He entered this in the Clarity competition and I hope the best for him!

ShockOne - Chaos Theory [October 21, 2012]

This is probably one of the toughest Drumstep song I've heard. It makes you want to mosh the fuck out. I haven't heard this song live but the combination of Drumstep, Dubstep, and Drum n Bass in this track is just oozing with complexity. ShockOne did a hell of a job with this track. I love the samples he used in this track, it helped him make the proper transition between Dubstep and Drumstep. Great track overall. You'll enjoy it, trust me.

Terravita - Well Oiled Machine [September 4, 2012]

Terravita is one of my favorite Drumstep artists. They have been around for a couple of years as Hot Pink Delorean and Terravita. The style they've created is just mind blowing. Its like industrial Drumstep, similar to Downlink's and Excision's and Datsik's Industrial Dubstep, Terravita showed the power of Drumstep through this track, Well Oiled Machine. It sounds dark and evil, like a place you don't want to be in but at the same time its welcoming. This synth in this song just meshes well with the whole song.

Krewella - One Minute (DotEXE Remix) [September 7, 2012]

Krewella is a upcoming group from Chicago and DotEXE is an upcoming producer from Chicago as well. Not going to lie, looking that up and realizing they are from the same city is pretty badass. As badass as this remix. This remix combines their superb vocals and a really, really nice Drumstep synth. It has this softness and high pitch saw sound. Its really great, which is why its in the Top 10.

Pegboard Nerds - Pressure Cooker [June 20, 2012]

I do not know where to begin with this track. Its just fucking awesome overall. Pegboard Nerds are the next innovator of this genre. I can feel their presence in 2012 and I'm excited for 2013. Pressure Cooker is one of their best tracks. They mastered the Skrillex sound and took that synth to a whole new level. A level that I have never heard of. Its enjoyable from start to finish. It doesn't sound repetitive or annoying. Its that great.

Kes Kaos - Silhouettes & Shadows (Protohype Remix) [September 24, 2012]

This synth in this track is just...wonderful. Protohype has been producing a lot of tracks and this track in particular is great. The vocals that Kes Kaos provides are soulful and the way Protohype combines that with his synths are just awesome. This is a great track and its something you should download and listen to. Also he does a fantastic Drum n Bass transition which is great!

Sander Van Doorn Ft. Mayaeni - Nothing Inside (Adam F Remix) [June 18, 2012]

This track is done perfectly. I couldn't imagine any other way it could have been done and I want to thank Adam F for this remix. The vocals in this song are sweet and just soft. Its interesting how the melody goes with the synths that Adam F provide. Also with a Drum n Bass drop, I could see this whole track be a Drum n Bass hit. But I'm glad he made this a Drumstep track.

The Bloody Beetroots - Rocksteady (Shy Kidx Remix) [June 27, 2012]

This Electro House/Drumstep remix deserves a fucking spot. Why? Have you heard this track? aside GGB having a great remix, Shy Kidx made this track seem like an original. When I heard this track I think of Megaman but in a really badass way. Its unique and just fun to listen. I don't remember hearing this live but if I did, I would go bonkers!

Figure - The Corpse Grinders [October 16, 2012]

A proper Top 10 Drumstep track has to have Figure in it. This guy has been making Drumstep tracks for years and hes basically the innovator of this genre. After looking and listening to all of his tracks this year, I have to say The Corpse Grinders is just one of those songs that I like. The style that he created is just interesting. The synths are dark along with the samples. It sounds like a horror movie that your stuck in. This music is becoming more and more unique and I hope to see him live in 2013. He's that worth it!

Dirtyphonics - Dirty (Synchronice Remix) [November 6, 2012]

I have no idea why Dirtyphonics gave this track out for free because its just a fucking great track. I've followed Synchronice for a while and this track proves to be a game changer. I just like how it sounds with the Dubstep influences. The patterns that they used for this track is quite complex but yet sound unison. They are a Dubstep group but I think they can make awesome Drumstep songs. I hope they continue this because they will make bangers in 2013.

Honorable Mentions

Bare - Kush Lovers (Bare 2012 Remix) [TBA]

This song goes out to all the kush lovers! This song is just amazing. If you haven't heard it, give it a listen because the synths in this track is just fucking crazy. Too bad Bare hasn't released the full track because I've been wanting this song! I can't forget this track so this is why this track is on the Honorable Mention list. I look forward to the proper release!

Marshmallow Gun's Top 10 Songs of 2012 - Drum n Bass

Drum n Bass is something that I unknowingly got into. It started with Jungle music with Aphrodite and Dieselboy. It wasn't until 2011 when I really got into Drum n Bass with the likes of Netsky, Camo & Krooked, and The Brookes Brothers. This year, I went to a lot of Drum n Bass shows in Los Angeles which included Dirtyphonics, Netsky, Andy C, Rollz, and Camo & Krooked. Overall those artists came out with top notch sets and that was because of the tracks were produced this year. I think Drum n Bass had an insane year with tons of hits from Sub Zero, Camo & Krooked, Dirtyphonics, and Tantrum Desire! With that being said, here is our list of the Top 10 tracks of 2012!

**Note there are a lot of tracks that I could have/could have not listen to. This is merely my opinion as these are the tracks that stuck out to me. Also I decided not list which is 1 to 10 as I feel like each song has its own strengths and weaknesses.

12th Planet & Flinch - The End Is Near Part 1 (Dirtyphonics Remix) [December 12, 2012]

What is a Drum n Bass list without Dirtyphonics? A crappy one, Dirtyphonics have been releasing a shit ton of music this year and honestly they were all good but this remix they did for 12th Planet & Flinch is one of my favorites. The way that this track is composed, Dirtyphonics makes the track feel like there is an apocalypse is going on. The synths sounds almost alien like and the screech in the song fits perfectly. I love this track overall and I hope to hear this live.

Mediks - Outbreak [April 9, 2012]

The first time I heard this track was when I saw Rusko live back in April in Los Angeles. They had Andy C on the bill and during his set he dropped this track. Everyone, I mean everyone, guys, girls, drunks, sluts, you name them, they were all going crazy with this track. Literally it was the track of Andy C's set. I loved the set because of the changes in the song. When I listen to it, I feel like there is a zombie invasion and I'm fighting them with a group of friends. You know a song is good when it can take you away from reality and I can say this song did.

Fred V & Grafix - Major Happy [November 26, 2012]

Fred V & Grafix are highly respected in the Drum n Bass community. They have been around for over 3 years in the Drum n Bass scene. They have produced numerous of hits on Hospital Records and this track is another great hit. Although it was recently released not too long ago, this track is just something serene and its a song to just chill and lounge too. Great song from a great artist.

Camo & Krooked - Run Riot (Sub Zero Remix) [March 19, 2012]

Kick in the bass!!! One of my favorite lines, in a Drum n Bass track. This remix that Sub Zero did is just out of this world. I heard the original and I think this remix blew the original out of the water. Its just so fucking insane. Every time I listen to this track I feel like I'm driving down the freeway going 100 mph! The intense bass and dirty synth makes it a roller coaster song. Definitely worth listening to if you haven't heard it.

Brookes Brothers Ft. Haz-Mat - Loveline [November 12, 2012]

Brookes Brothers are one of those artists you have to like. I'm attracted to their style of music. Its just amazing. Their hits included Star Guitar (Remix), Let You Go (Remix), and Beautiful. The track that they did with Haz-Mat is just another hit added to their list. The soulful/synth-ful vocals of Haz-Mat added another depth, layer to the song.

The Prototypes - Suffocate [November 11, 2012]

The Prototypes are just amazing. When they released Suffocate, I instantly knew that this song was going to be a hit among the Drum n Bass heads. I for one like this song a lot as it feels like a classic Drum n Bass hit. The vocals that The Prototypes provided with the near perfect synths provides a Danceable, hell even mosh-able tune. This is a great track and I'm looking forward to their other releases.

Netsky - Give & Take [January 16, 2012]

Netsky is just a great artist overall. I had the pleasure to see him live numerous of times and each set I liked. This song that he released back in January is something special. He is known for this soft synths and his piano keys. If you look back to Memory Lane and Iron Heart, both of those songs were fantastic. His song Give & Take goes back to his old Drum n Bass roots which is one of his best styles!

Monsta - Holdin' On (Skrillex & Nero Remix) [October 23, 2012]

This song is something special. Skrillex and Nero are known for their song Promises which became a huge Dubstep hit. Fast forward a year later, they are back again but this time they remix Monsta's Holdin' On. This track is just phenomenal. The Drum n Bass pattern with Skrillex and Nero's synth is just a one of a kind. You can actually tell who did what part in the song but that's okay because its a wonderful masterpiece.

Rusko Ft. Bonnie McKee - Thunder (Tantrum Desire Remix) [July 10, 2012]

This track was for free for one day only. I remember because Rusko released a remix teaser and when I heard that he released the track for free, I jumped on it quickly. This remix is just great overall. I love Tantrum Desire's music because their style is just so different from most DnB artists. Every time they have a drop, the synth is rising, which I am a big fan of.

Seven Lions Ft. Shaz Sparks - Below Us (Smooth DnB Remix) [April 22, 2012]

Seven Lions is a star in the making. He has grown in such a short time and taking the Dubstep scene by storm. Smooth on the other hand is a Drum n Bass producer on the rise. He has been releasing hit after hit, hell I could do a Top 10 tracks with all of his music. He's just that great. I think this remix he did of Seven Lions' track is the best song out of all of his music this year. It is a tough choice to make as he has been producing a lot of hits. Damn, I'm excited for his 2013 releases.

Honorable Mention

Must Die! Ft. jACQ - Nothing Is Forever [TBA]

This track is a sure surprise. Must Die! is known for his Dubstep and Electro House music. When he released this track I was amazed by the composition. I have a thing for vocal Drum n Bass and I couldn't believe that this track was an original. I didn't know he could make Drum n Bass, this is why he deserves an honorable mention. He is just that good at producing.

Marshmallow Gun's Top 10 Songs of 2012 - Disco House

Disco House is something that I have been listening to for a long time. It started with Daft Punk in the 90's early 2000's. After that I stopped listening to Disco House until I heard Louis La Roche, Duck Sauce, Go Go Bizkitt! and The Phantoms Revenge in 2009/2010. When Duck Sauce released Barbara Streisand, Disco House took a major jump into the spotlight. It was a hit among the mainstream and after 2011 into 2012, it went back to its quiet little spot. I continued to look for Disco House tracks and instantly fell in love with the genre. Artists that stood out this year were Justin Faust, Solidisco, Go Go Bizkitt!, and Tempogeist. Also there was song which caught my attention a week ago which deserves an honorable mention! So here we go with the Top 10 Disco House songs of 2012.

**Note there are a lot of tracks that I could have/could have not listen to. This is merely my opinion as these are the tracks that stuck out to me. Also I decided not list which is 1 to 10 as I feel like each song has its own strengths and weaknesses.

Icona Pop - I Love It (Solidisco Remix) [November 8, 2012]

Solidisco has to be one of my favorite producers at the moment. They have created a bunch of Disco House gems include this remix of Icona Pop's I Love It. That build from the vocals to the drop is just submerged in Disco goodness. This track is one of those tracks that will be in your head for a long time. The catchiness of the samples and the way they put it together is just amazing. Keep it up Solidisco, I'm expecting a ton of hits in 2013.

Fukuyama - Bigger Boss [May 12, 2012]

Fukuyama are a group which I had the pleasure in finding. This is the first track that I heard from them and after I was hooked. The way that this track is created reminds me of Go Go Bizkitt, even Daft Punk. This song in particular is a upbeat song, there is no way you can not resist to dance. I think a crowd of Disco House enthusiast will enjoy this track because I for one enjoy this track a lot.

Tempogiest Ft. Lisa Dank - Romeo [October 15, 2012]

Disco House doesn't always have to consist a ton of looped samples. Tempogiest and Lisa Dank prove that Disco House can come in all shapes and forms. This track they did together has such a good vibe. From beginning to end, the Disco House track with a hint of 80's synth pop grows like a new layer of skin. It is just that great. If you get the chance, listen to this track because you will not be disappointed.

Solidisco - Hey Everybody [December 3, 2012]

Solidisco is back again and this time with a feature single which was released on my favorite record label, Kitsune. This track is just fucking awesome, period! Hey everybody has this catchy tropical sample but takes a quick shift into the Disco House realm. Definitely one of the tracks that defines Solidisco. I hope they come to the US because they will be worth watching!

Combostar & Mani Hoffman - Free (Go Go Bizkitt! Remix) [June 26, 2012]

Go Go Bizkitt! is by far one of my favorite Disco House artist. I had the pleasure to interview him for Marshmallow Gun. His music and style is so damn unique, I've heard many people replicate it. The awesome thing about that is that the people copying his style are successful! So his remix of Free is a track which showcases his style and it is a clear reminder that his is god like when it comes to producing Disco House tunes. Its a bold statement but holy shit its just that good.

Aniki - O.M.G. [March 13, 2012]

So the people behind track "Lesbian Bondage Fiasco" are back again with this track, O.M.G. Before I talk about the awesomeness about OMG, if you haven't heard of Lesbian Bondage Fiasco, you should go check it out because that song is on a different level. You will love it! O.M.G. is just one of those songs which captures sampling at perfection. Aniki can make some really great tracks just by sampling off of old songs which I find quite amazing. O.M.G. proves my point.

Justice - New Lands (Falcon Remix) [June 25, 2012]

Out of all the tracks Falcon could have remixed, he decided to remix Justice's New Land. This remix is just a one of a kind. It feels liks your stuck in a loop for over 4 minutes. Its a good loop though because Falcon just manage to make that loop sound harmonious and if they are singing like a choir. The funkiness in this song is combined with the repetitive sound of hymning which creates perfection.

The Knocks - The Feeling (Values Remix) [November 27, 2012]

The Knocks are one of my favorite Dance producers of this year. When I heard that they were releasing remixes of their song The Feeling, I was more than excited! When I heard the Values remix this track, I was more than pleased because it had that Disco House style. The vocals are sweet and they just fit perfectly with the synths and samples that Values used! I cannot wait for the tracks that the Values will put out in 2013 and also The Knocks, they are two artists you have to look out for!

Tempogeist - Hold On (Prometones Remix) [October 15, 2012]

I thought Tempogeist's Romeo was good but this remix that the Prometones did just made Hold On ten times better. The remix is very similar to Romeo because it too has the 80's synth pop feel. It reminds me of a cool yet cheesy love song. I remember playing this song over and over for a weekend because I just loved the samples and the synth. I think the Prometones created a different feel of this track because I feel like it shows the lighter side of holding on.

French Horn Rebellion vs Database - Poster Girl (Justin Faust Remix) [November 19, 2012]

I heard this song when Go Go Bizkitt! played it during his radio set. Once I heard it, I instantly fell in love with the song. It took me 2 months to find this song and once I found It, I had to make sure this song was on the Top 10 list because its just perfection. Justin Faust is a god. This track is just amazing from start to finish. Poster Girl isn't a song most of us can't relate to but wow this track just reminds me of summer all the time. It is definitely a summer song and I think it deserves a music video!

Honorable Mention

Chesto - Trosore (Brono Mors) [December 15, 2012]

I'm glad he sent me this submission. Once I heard this song I instantly thought it was perfect. The samples that Chesto used were just absolutely mind boggling. In his description he said that he was inspired by Breakbot and Bruno Mars. So he took Bruno Mars' song and just gave it a Disco make over. A fantastic make over. I love it and I cannot wait for him to continue this Disco House journey because I feel like he can go far with it. Give him a chance and listen to the track, YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT.

Marshmallow Gun's Top 10 Songs of 2012 - Electro House

Electro House has dramatically changed in the last couple of years. I remember when The Bloody Beetroots were one of the groups that lead the Electro House scene. Then after that Complextro came into the scene and was led by Lazy Rich Darth & Vader, Far Too Loud, and Zedd. Now Complextro became the new Electro House. This year Electro House came in many forms from the likes of Zedd, Wolfgang Gartner, and Dyro. Here is our list of the Top 10 Electro House tracks of 2012!

**Note there are a lot of tracks that I could have/could have not listen to. This is merely my opinion as these are the tracks that stuck out to me. Also I decided not list which is 1 to 10 as I feel like each song has its own strengths and weaknesses.

Far Too Loud - Firestorm [July 15, 2012]

Far Too Loud has to be one of my favorite Electro House producers of ALL TIME. Yes hes that fucking great. I've been a fan of his music for over 2 years and I remember when he use to make Disco House music before making a transition to Electro House. This track proves to be the gem of them all, I remember listening to Firestorm for the first time, I was mind blown. The complexity in this track is off the walls. I remember The Bloody Beetroots playing this track live at Hard Summer in Los Angeles, I could help but rage in happiness!

Avicii - Silhouettes (Syn Cole Remix) [September 5, 2012]

So in my list of top Progressive House tracks, I mentioned Avicii's Silhouettes, and now he is mentioned in Electro House's but this time Syn Cole did a remix of this track. His remix put a different spin in this song. It turned the soft, progressive feel into a Electro House banger. I don't remember how I found this song but once I found it, I couldn't stop listening to it. He took everything great about the song and added a darker sound and a killer drop. This is such a great track, I'm surprised this song hasn't been played out.

Wolfgang Gartner - Nuke [September 17, 2012]

I've had the pleasure to cover one of Wolfgang Gartner's event back in October and when I heard him play this song live, the bass in this track was thumping. It literally felt like a war zone. The mood of this song is so vibrant, I couldn't believe that Wolfgang Gartner made this track. I feel like this song was named appropriately as it felt like a Nuke was coming to the dance floor. This track is absolutely unique and it was awesome to hear this live. I'm covering Wolfgang Gartner again this New Years Eve, maybe he will play this track once more?

Firebeatz & Schella - Dear New York [September 10, 2012]

Dear New York has one of the sicks synth ever. The synth is like Toulouse's brother. Its innovated and definitely changed Electro House standard. After this track I've heard many attempts of recreating the same synth that Firebeatz and Schella made. I don't know why its called Dear New York but I have to thank that City or State for being their inspiration. This song propelled Firebeatz to superstardom and I'm glad they reached to the top because they deserved it.

Zedd Ft. Foxes - Clarity [November 12, 2012]

Despite Zedd releasing Spectrum earlier this year, I couldn't stand that song. It was over played and I heard it at every festival I've attended. I doesn't mean that I don't like Zedd because hes one of my favorite producers but I think Clarity is a much better song than Spectrum. I like the vocals and I feel like the vocals can relate to just about anyone. When I first discovered this song, It stood out to me because It came at the perfect time when I was going through a break-up. I may be biased in some sort of way with this song but shit, it helped me get through a tough time and I'm sure you guys can relate to that.

Popeska - Karmameter [September 17, 2012]

BRA-BRA-BRA-BRACE YOURSELF! Probably one of the best lines that was ever used in a Electro House song. I swear once I heard that It felt like a roller coaster. Along with Wolfgang Gartner, I saw Popeska and when he played this track I was like "Holy shit, what song is this?!". I couldn't get over the song because of the vocal samples were just amazing in the first build. Popeska decided to do something unique with a double drop, yeah double drop. The first drop hits and you'll nod your head but then it builds again into the second drop. This style is something I can get use to as it catches the listener off guard.

Afrojack & R3hab - Prutataaa (Darth & Vader Remix) [January 17, 2012]

Prutataaa was one of those songs that got me hooked on Electro House. I took a break from Electro House after The Bloody Beetroots took a break from producing. After I heard this track, I was impressed from the synth. It wasn't as complex as I thought it would be but the synth made up for it. Unfortunately I haven't heard this song live or seen him at an event but I hope that changes because he is a game changer in the Electro House scene. If you have the chance, check out his music because it puts a different perspective on the Electro House genre.

Sander van Doorn & Julian Jordan - Kangaroo [August 20, 2012]

This track was one of the first tracks that was posted on Marshmallow Gun. At that time I wasn't sure who made this track but once I found out, I was fucking surprised. I was a fan of Julian Jordan before Kangaroo when he released Rock Steady (Not to be confused with The Bloody Beetroots song). I was impressed that Julian Jordan rose to fame so quickly where he was already collaborating with one of EDM's biggest name. Kangaroo is one of those tracks where chaos with the synths and samples is a good thing. Normally it would annoy me but this track, it was done perfectly. I can't wait to hear more tracks from Julian Jordan and Sander Van Doorn!

Dyro & Ansol - Top of The World [July 9, 2012]

When Dyro and Ansol dropped this song on Soundcloud, I felt like Dyro expressed himself through this song. I think when he made this track he felt like he was on top of the world and he loved it. I think this song solidified his career as a producer. The drop is impressive as it just keeps on rising. From start to finish I thought the track was superbly done. I didn't think that any remix would make this track better but I think I was wrong. If you will understand because this remix will be featured on the other Top 10 Songs of 2012.

Porter Robinson - Language [April 10, 2012]

Porter Robinson dominated this year with Language. By far the best Electro House track this year. I know I sound like a hypocrite but this song is just perfect from start to finish. Every time I hear this song whether if it is at my house or at a festival I get chills. The chords are just amazing. Also with the piano keys, they just work wonderfully together. Porter's made a huge progression with this song and I think its in the right path. He is trying something new but he hasn't forgotten his old Electro House roots. Language is a perfect example. He introduces a Progressive House feel but still uses his Electro House style.

Honorable Mention

Joe Gartson - The Promise [January 2, 2012]

Joe Gartson has to be one of those underground sensations. I feel like he hasn't gotten enough attention because I haven't heard his music live or seen him play at a festival. This guy is absolutely amazing. He and Mord Fustang own a style which is quite different from the typical Electro House/Complextro. I love this style because its a lot more higher pitch with a touch of trance synth. This song in particular shows how Electro House doesn't have to be complex or have a dark synth behind it.

Marshmallow Gun x Khross

I think fashion is important in the music culture. I think most artists care about how they look and the latest trends. Artists like A-Trak wear clothes that are worth thousands and thousands of dollars everyday. Gesaffelstein wears a suit every time he preforms because the way he dresses is apart of his style and his persona. Because I feel like fashion and music are connected to one another, I decided to start a fashion column for our website. It will feature many upcoming clothing brands which I believe can make a difference not only the fashion industry but also the music industry. With that be said, we are excited to feature our first clothing brand, Khross.

Khross owner, Derek
Khross is a clothing brand which is promotes more of the life style rather than their shirts. The company was founded by Derek, an he has built a reputation that life style is just as important as the clothes you wear. Khross mainly focuses on the male life style. They started in 2007 when Derek had no clue about what he wanted to do. Fast forward 5 years later, his company has grown into a life style which is supported by the likes of Seven Lions (Dubstep producer), The Bolivian Marching Affair (Electronic duo), and Tim Landers of the Alternative rock group Transit.

Here is a brief description about their company,
Khross is about expressing your own image. We believe in a world with more dreamers, more happiness, more opportunity, and more people challenging the ordinary by bringing forth the extraordinary. We're inspired by the world around us, by travel and culture, by books, by music, by TED talks, and especially by the people we surround ourselves with. It's our goal that we can help make these changes with our brand as our weapon.
Our clothing is here to serve as a message to the world to follow your passion. We want to show the world the brilliant new artists, innovators, and world-changers so you can see that dreams are worth pursuing, and can be realized.

Marshmallow Gun owner Wesley
supporting Khross.
As a blogger I believe that passion plays a major role in your future. I never had the idea about making a website from the start. I was influenced by a couple of friends who loved the music I showed them. They kept coming back to me for new music because some how I was always on top of the latest tracks. It wasn't until then when they told me that I should make a website which showcases new music. I was pretty stoked with that idea and I ran with it. My passion with music and support my friends fueled my dreams. As my website grew, so did my support, and as well as my passion.

When I was approached by the Khross company, they told me about their goals as a company. They shared the same passion as I did. I for one was impressed by their approach to the fashion industry. They not only focused on their clothes but they also focused on their customers well being. They promoted a positive outlook on life. They advocated for people to challenge themselves, to reach for the stars. Although that sounds cliche I was able to resonate with their goals as a company.

Here is a short statement from their owner Derek,

Sometimes it's good to speak from the heart.

I began Khross in 2007 without a clue of what I was doing. I was 17 with no prior business experience. Many people, including myself at one point, look at successful people and assume that they are different, or lucky. God, the universe, or some other force chose them to be successful and happy and you living a life you settled on.

No one ever sees the sacrifice, the hours/days/years of persistence, the love, the blood, sweat, and tears that went into it all.

I built Khross as a means of showing the world the passion behind the dreamers who wanted to do more than dream, in hopes that more people will rise to the occasion and pursue their life's passion. Because that's what life is all about, isn't it? To live, to soak up the happiness from every moment, and to dream bigger each day. My most sincere goal is to inspire you to pursue your dreams, and that's why when you wear Khross, you represent an entire community of people who will never settle, and know that "normal" is something that simply doesn't exist. If you think you are one of these people, take a look at what we have to offer.

I've had the pleasure of working with and getting advice from extraordinary people from various disciplines from all over the world. From professional photographers and filmers to noteworthy businessmen, all the way over to rap, electronic, and even metal musicians. All of these people showed me that, whatever your passion, the pursuit of it is always worth it. I encourage anyone who reads this, regardless of if you appreciate our brand, to dig deep and think about what is truly meaningful to you and makes you happy.

Khross is a company to look out for as they advocate for a positive life style. There aren't just a typical clothing brand they are a company that promotes the happiness and well being of others, which I think is the most important thing.

Here are other shirts that Khross offer:
