The Interview - 08 - Go Go Bizkitt!

I've been wanting to do this interview for a while. I have a soft heart for Disco House music. I've been a fan as far back as Daft Punk with their albums. More recently when I got into Electronic Music, I became a fan of The Phantom's Revenge, Louis La Roche, and Duck Sauce. Around the time I discovered The Phantoms Revenge, I also found the artist Go Go Bizkitt!.

Go Go Bizkitt is highly regarded as one of the top Disco House producers of our generation. His catchy and sensational samples have crowds dancing where ever its being played. He has been in the scene for a couple of years and have played along side with The Phantoms Revenge, The Twelves, Louis La Roche and more! I've been a fan of his music for almost 2 years and he's definitely an artist you should listen to. When I learned that he was willing to do an interview with Marshmallow Gun, I was more than excited.

Its a pleasure of mine to present our interview with Go Go Bizkitt!

10 Marshmallows

Marshmallow Gun: Tell me how you got your name “Go Go Bizkitt!”?

Go Go Bizkitt: Sorry but no haha, it's a pretty cool & random story (confirmed by "The Phantom's Revenge" when i explained it to him during our first party) but it's not something that everyone would "get" so it's best to keep it personal.

MG: What inspired you to make Disco/French House?

GGB: I grew up loving the whole Crydamoure/Roule sound,it sounded to me like disco was being properly vamped up for the future! …. the only problem was that there was never enough of it!.
It also gave me a new found respect for artists of the 70's-80's disco era & opened up a whole new musical history for me that i think a lot of people take for granted nowadays.

MG: What do you think about the Disco House scene? Do you wish it was more popular and become mainstream, or do you like how it is. Why?

GGB: Disco house is in great shape these days!, over the past few years their has been an uprising of great producers & the scene is becoming a lot more richer in terms of original styles & ideas, there has always been a mainstream side to it which is more "disco house by numbers" but many more people are really taking to the more underground styles that take a fresh approach to sampling/FX etc
I love how it is at the moment.

MG: Who would you collaborate with and why?

GGB: Personally i don't really like collaborating much… i'm a pretty introverted guy & ideas come only when i'm by myself doing my own thing, however i will be collabing with 3 other artists in 2013 on some projects but it's a secret at the moment … gotta make sure it works out first haha.

MG: What are your thoughts about the new Daft Punk album that is being created, You stated that they are a big influence in your music. Do you think they will go back to their old roots of French House?

GGB: I think it's very exciting that they are putting something new out!, Thomas & Guy-Man have always got a talent of reinventing their style/sound & are also very unpredictable to what everyone expects ….. but if i had to guess i'd say the album with be a cross between "Oliver" & "Breakbot" since they've got Rodgers & Moroder joining in the fun … it's just a guess though.
I'm sure whichever direction they take will be healthy for the house music scene.

MG: Aside from producing, what other hobbies are you interested in?

GGB: Retro video games, watching Anime & going to the gym take up most of my week, everything else is music related (i have been known to eat & sleep now and again)

MG: Is there a ritual that you do before you preform at an event?

GGB: I turn up on time.

MG: Is there a upcoming producer that we should know about?

GGB: There's a few but the one that sticks out for me is "Discosocks", a talented lad from London who has been putting out fantastic banging funk, his style is very party oriented unlike of the abundance of producers who've went into "slow down mode" recently. we need more producers like this or disco house events are going to be a night filled with warm up djs.

MG: Do you have any plans to tour the U.S. again? If so, when?

GGB: I've just finished my third tour last week with "The Phantom's Revenge" & "Ruckus Roboticus", i believe i'll be back in the summer time for another crazy adventure.

MG: Do you have anything in stored for the rest of 2012?

GGB: At the moment i'm just finishing up my music ready for release in early 2013, 2 ep's,1 single & 3 remixes will be hitting between January & April … their will be a few freebies too in between, it's going to be a busy year for sure!

5 Mini-Marshmallows

MG: If you traveled back in time to the 70's what would be the first thing you would do and why?

GGB: Invent the George Foreman grill & become a billionaire

MG: What is the perfect event for yourself? (Venue, Location, Line-Up, Date, Name of event, Etc.)

GGB: Venue:Social club Paris

Line up: Oliver(live show),The Phantom's Revenge,Breakbot(Live Show)Shook(Live Show)MYLO and i'd like a spot in there too haha.
What makes it perfect is that it could happen one day…. you never know.

MG: Tell me about the wildest event you've played at? Why was it wild?

GGB: That would be at "Pain Surprises" in Paris 2011, i remember being backstage having crazy drinks sitting on a couch with Thomas from "Boom le Choc" in a hawaiian shirt to my left and a girl with only a thong on to my right(literally), a 5 foot Asian dude in a karate outfit jumping his own height kicking wooden boards while drag queens were parading around the hallway & some big French rapper who looked like Jay-Z was screaming lyrics in my face…. in an American accent haha.
Just before i started my set the band before me finished & the room went quiet, a guy came on stage shouting stuff in French & another shot him, fake blood was pissing everywhere while another smashed up one of the bands guitars & threw it in the crowd … it was all part of one of their amazing nights, i played there twice haha.

MG: What is your favorite food to eat when you are producing?

GGB: I don't eat in the studio, it helps me to leave the room for a while and take my mind off things. also my manager is quite the chef so it's rude not to eat his fine cuisine at the dining table.

MG: Do you like Marshmallows? Why or why not?

GGB: I love marshmallows because it's always fun to try & fit 50 in your mouth at once …. then realise your being a dickhead haha.

Here is a video of one of his upcoming track, "Jump!".
